The Friends of the Duxbury Free Library is looking for new board members for the 2026-2027 year!
If you are interested in joining a wonderful group of volunteers and assisting in raising funds for our incredible library, please fill out the form below by Monday, May 4th, 2026.
Terms are for a minimum of two years. The board meets at the library the first Tuesday of every month at 9:15am with the exception of July and August when we do not meet. We are currently recruiting for multiple roles.
What we do:
Provide funding for new materials to fulfill accreditation requirement for the Old Colony Network (a consortium of 29 libraries across the south shore of MA)
Support Summer childrens and teen programming with fundingProvide three scholarships to graduating seniors who are active at the library
Sponsor annual Library Staff Appreciation Luncheon (December)
Provide funds for special library needs (3-D printer, Mango Language Learning, Sunday Arts and Culture, Reading Garden Maintenance, other ad hoc requests as funds allow)
Work in close partnership with Library Director for cohesive support and fund allocation
Expectations of Board Members:
Attend Monthly meetings September-June in person or virtually (1st Tuesday of every monthstarts sharp 9:15am, concludes at 10:15am)
Hold a specific position
Participate in fundraising events
Active user of the Duxbury Free Library
Commit to a 2-year term beginning in September and ending in June two years following.
New Positions Needed:
1) Development/Annual Fund – support the Fall Annual Fund Drive (letter creation and distribution), maintain spreadsheet of donors and coordinate thank you notes/postcards with support from board, new ideas to solicit funding for library programing
2) Graphic Design/Canva - work with board members to create creative graphics for multiple projects through out the year. This will include assisting with annual fund, Battle of the Books, Gala Planning and other needs through the year.
